Accessibility

Prior to our 2023 event, we undertook a review of PANAMA’s accessibility, resulting in a number of changes both on-site and on this website. We continue to view the event through an accessibility lens and will roll out new approaches as they develop. It is still a work in progress, so if you have ideas, suggestions or feedback - we’d love to hear from you.

Below are some details about the festival to allow you to assess the event and make plans.

If you secure a ticket and have access requirements, feel free to get in touch, and we can chat. Drop us a line at Info@panamafestival.com.au. There may be some things we can do to make the event more accessible for you.

The Site

PANAMA is accessible by private vehicle only. It’s located 50 minutes North East of Launceston, and the final stretch is 6km of dirt road.

Image Description: a gravel road surrounded by green trees and bushland.

The site itself is a rolling parkland environment. The ground is covered in short grass. There are some sections with exposed tree roots, and the site undulates - it’s gently sloping - not flat.

There are three precincts for entertainment, all located within a distance of about 300m.

Patrons usually camp onsite at the festival. The campground is located on the same property and is a grass-covered parkland-type environment - like a golf course.

If camping doesn’t suit you, patrons with a disability can choose to attend the event during the day and sleep offsite if that is a better fit. This option is not available to patrons without lived experience. Let us know in advance, and we can arrange for this to be facilitated at the gate.

The festival site has two wheelchair-accessible toilets - one centrally located and another in the campgrounds.

Patrons living with disability are encouraged to reach out in advance, and we can have you sited in a campground that best suits your needs. We can also locate an accessible toilet close to your campground if needed.

Companion Cards

We are a Companion Card Participating event. If you hold a valid companion card, this will allow entry to one ticket free of charge in addition to your paid ticket. Please email boxoffice@panamafestival.com.au with details so we can get your companion on our gate list.

Music and Lighting Notice

PANAMA features loud music and bright lights. However, we are located in the Tasmanian countryside so you can find plenty of quiet natural spaces nearby. There are quiet spots on the property if you need some space.  The Pavilion bar during the day is also a quiet space.

You will be able to hear music from the campground, and music runs until 3 am, so it's a good idea to bring noise-cancelling headphones if required.

Auslan

We have, to date, never had Auslan interpreters at PANAMA. If you are attending PANAMA 2024 and you communicate using Auslan please drop us a line, and we’ll book an Auslan interpreter for key parts of the program.
